Compacy is a geography game available on the web at compacy.com and as an app for Android and iOS. This page explains what the game stores, what it does not, and how to have your data removed. There is no account, no sign-up, and no email address is ever required to play.
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| A random player ID (a UUID generated on your device) | To keep your streak, atlas progress and leaderboard entry apart from other players | Your device, and our server once you submit a result |
| Username, if you choose one | To show you on the leaderboards. Optional — the game is fully playable without it | Our server |
| Game results: streak, score, time taken, cities answered correctly | Leaderboards, your atlas, and statistics about which city pairs players find hardest | Our server |
| Language choice, sound setting, your own progress | So the game works the way you left it | Your device only (browser local storage) |
| Notification token, only if you allow notifications in the app | To send occasional reminders about the daily challenge | Our server and Google Firebase |
The website uses privacy-friendly traffic measurement provided by Cloudflare, which counts page views and referrers without cookies and without tracking individuals across sites. If additional analytics are ever enabled on the website, you will be asked for consent first and may decline. The apps do not include web analytics.
The apps may show advertisements served by Google AdMob. When ads are active, Google may process your device's advertising identifier to select and measure ads, as described in Google's privacy policy. On iOS you are asked for permission before any tracking takes place, and declining does not affect the game. On the website, advertising is off unless you accept the cookie notice.
Game results are kept for as long as the leaderboards exist. A username is released if the account behind it has no completed games or has not been used for 60 days. Notification tokens are deleted automatically once they stop working, for example after you uninstall the app.
Compacy is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children under 13 in particular. It asks for no personal information, so a child can play without providing any. If you are a parent and believe a username identifies your child, contact us and we will remove it.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Significant changes will also be announced inside the game.
